What Do You Mean I Have To Practice?

So the first basketball practice is this Saturday morning. I have yet to buy my ankle-saving shoes. I need to get on that, cause it's all fun and games until someone brakes an ankle.

I'm nervous. I'm getting all of these weird high school ish feelings about having to compete with athletic girls and not being able to.

I'm not feeling terrifically stable at the moment.

Hm.

You can do it, JQ!!!!!! I don't know if you know this but you will actually have to touch other people. I suggest you start body checking everybody. Get used to the feeling.
And on the first day, go to practice and play the part of the ideal athelete you want to be. Be agressive. Then sit back and analyze what you were good at. Maybe you can't make a basket but you are great at defense. Maybe you can't make a regular basket but you are good at drawing fouls and you rock at the free throw.
Just play up your strengths.

Jen, I think da has made some very good suggestions, especially the part about body checking everyone. I recommend you do that even when you aren't practicing basketball. That way you'll make it a habit and it will come naturally to you.

I do think you should ignore comment what anonymous said above, though, as they clearly don't know anything about basketball.

It will be awkward, butif you try and have fun rather than putting pressure on yourself to be great, you might find it's more enjoyable than you expected.

And if you hate it, you are not going to be forced to stay by anyone but you.

:) Take care. -KH
